Traveller Health Inequalities – Community Engagement Facilitation
Traveller communities remain some of the most marginalised in Ireland, with searing health inequalities well-documented from research.
Two separate assignments with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust sought to engage with local Traveller communities. Project work involved co-designing and facilitating local Traveller community focus groups, family meetings, event workshops and stakeholder interviews.
In both projects, engagement findings reports highlighted specific priority issues for Traveller communities to address in future planning with communities. Traveller community members and stakeholders contributed to the creation of a Traveller-led local health action plan framework, which involved a range of local stakeholder groups and agencies.
